God vs Goals
I was reading the story of Mary and Martha in the last week. I was struck at how different the two sisters were.
How Martha bustled around the house, preparing the food and doing all the things that were required (and maybe some extra) whilst Mary seemingly sat there oblivious to all the things that needed doing.
But the interesting bit comes in Jesus’ response when she took her complaints to him.
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
You see, when we have the opportunity to hear from our Lord, we should be wanting to drop everything and sit at his feet. We should be wanting to hear what he has to say and allowing it to transform our lives.
Dear one, when the list of things that need to be done gets too long, don’t neglect sitting at your Lord’s feet and soaking in some teaching.
I’m working towards a heart that pursues God more than goals…..what about you?
Much love
